SSR’s father K.K Singh has now filed a complaint before the Medical Council of India against Sushant’s therapist Susan Walker.
He accused Susan of flouting ‘medical conduct guidelines’ by disclosing details about Sushant Singh Rajput’s mental illness to the public.

“This complaint is being filed under Regulation 8.2 of the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 (*2002 Regulations) for professional misconduct committed by Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) namely, Ms. Susan Walker under Regulation 7.14 of the 2002 Regulations.
Regulation 7.14 of the 2002 Regulations reads as, ‘7.14 The registered medical practitioner shall not disclose the secrets of a patient that have been learnt in the exercise of his / her profession except – a court of law under orders of the Presiding Judge,- in circumstances where there is a serious and identified risk to a specific person and/or community; and iii) notifiable diseases. In case of communicable/notifiable diseases, concerned public health authorities should be informed immediately’.
The complainant herein is the father of deceased Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his apartment in Mumbai on the 14th of June, 2020. The complainant is bringing this complaint against the above-mentioned medical practitioner the legal heir and representative of Sushant Singh Rajput. The above-mentioned medical practitioner claims that Sushant Singh Rajput had consulted her for certain alleged mental conditions for which she had given her consultations and opinion. That without going any further into the alleged medical condition of Sushant Singh Rajput, it is clear that any consultations between Sushant Singh Rajput and the above-mentioned medical practitioner were strictly confidential and disclosure of the same would be a misconduct under Regulation 7.14 of the 2002 Regulations.
Recently, it has come to my knowledge, that the above-mentioned medical practitioner has given a news interview to a senior journalist making disclosures qua the medical condition of Sushant Singh Rajput and making public, ‘secrets’ which she obtained in a strictly professional capacity and the disclosure, barring the mentioned exceptions, would amount to professional misconduct. As such, it is clear that Ms. Susan Walker has waived her confidentiality without any legal basis and without even consulting the complainant and as such she has committed professional misconduct under Regulation 7.14 of the 2002 Regulations.
Further Regulation 2.2 of the 2002 Regulations also require medical practitioners to not reveal anything disclosed by patients in confidence. Also, the onus to show that the disclosure was made with any authority lie on the medical practitioner in view of Section 111 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. In view thereof, it is humbly requested that required proceedings may be initiated against Ms. Susan Walker under Regulation 8 of the 2002 Regulations. Further, it is requested that the Soto, may pass appropriate directions to prohibit Ms. Susan Walker or any other medical practitioners to make any further public/media statements making any such disclosures qua the medical consultations of Sushant Singh Rajput.”
