Recently, SSR case’s drug angle saw development after NCB arrested Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty and Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda.
They’ve been sent to the agency’s custody till Sep 9. As per NDTV report, Rhea’s father issued a statement condemning the arrest of his son.
“Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I’m sure next on the line is my daughter and I don’t know who is next thereafter. You have effectively demolished a middle-class family. But of course, for the sake of justice everything is justified. Jai hind,” the statement from Lt Col Indrajit Chakraborty (Retd).
Indrajit has also been questioned by the CBI several times.
As reported by NDTV, both Showik and Samuel have been charged with various sections of the anti-drug law. No drugs have been found on Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda yet and the NCB’s case so far has rested on the discovery of 59 grams of curated marijuana from two men identified as Abbas Lakhani and Karan Arora and the links they allegedly had with those close to Sushant Singh.
In NCB’s application seeking Showik’s custody, it said he had “given so many names with whom he was dealing in drugs”. He will also be interrogated with his sister Rhea.
Rhea will be joining the NCB investigation now. With the simultaneous investigations by NCB, CBI and ED in the SSR Case, the only arrests in the case so far have come from the drug angle.
Yesterday, Dipesh Sawant was also arrested by the NCB.
Rhea has not approached any court for anticipatory bail
Meanwhile, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde made a statement – “Rhea Chakraborty is ready for arrest as it’s a witch hunt. If loving someone is a crime she will face consequences of her love. Being innocent she has not approached any court for anticipatory bail in all cases foisted by Bihar Police, CBI, ED and NCB.”
