National Commission of Women (NCW) head Rekha Sharma has tweeted out that the filmmakers of newly released Netflix film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl should take down the film and discontinue the screening of the movie.
As per a report by DNA, after the release of the film, The Indian Air Force (IAF) had submitted a letter to the censor board stating that although the film’s producer Karan Johar had promised authenticity, there were misleading parts in the film.
NCW head Rekha Sharma tweeted about the matter saying the filmmakers should apologise for the misinterpretation and discontinue the screening of the film. Her tweet read, “If that is so, the filmmaker must apologise and discontinue the screening. Why showing something which is portraying our own forces in bad light specially when it’s not true.”
Apparently the Kargil Girl herself, Gunjan Saxena, stated that she received support from her male counterparts at the IAF along with also getting equal opportunities.
The IAF apparently also approached Dharma Productions (Karan Johar’s production house) in order to rectify the facts and delete certain ‘misleading’ scenes but that was not done by the filmmakers.
