This new project will be helmed by Zoya Akhtar. Zoya and Ranveer had already worked their magic with Gully Boy and Dil Dhadakne Do. This time they will be working on a dark, gritty gangster drama.
Moreover, it has come to be known that the gangster flick in question will be an adaptation of the popular Hollywood crime thriller – The Departed by Martin Scorsese.
A source revealed to Pinkvilla that Zoya had acquired the rights of Martin Scorsese’s film and would be taking the basic idea from The Departed but tweaking it for Indian audiences. It will explore the gritty world of the underbelly that runs in the country. Though new to this particular space, Zoya is confident of pulling this off after Gully Boy.
Meanwhile, Ranveer has already said yes for the role that Leonardo Di Caprio played in the original. Katrina Kaif will also be seen in an action-packed avatar! The two will be briefly sharing screen space in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryvanshi as well.
