Telugu TV actress Navya Swamy of Aame Katha and Naa Peru Meenakshi fame recently tested COVID-19 positive, after she had resumed work. Of course, she immediately stopped shooting after her diagnosis.
While talking to TOI about her symptoms and treatment, she also commented on the ill-treatment she received from some people after being positive for COVID-19.
Though her initial symptoms were mild headache and tiredness, after which she got her test done, the self-quarantined Navya has now claimed that she has no symptoms and is fine.
“I was even feeling guilty that I put my co-stars and crew in trouble, too.” said the actress. However, her channel, producers and co-stars have assured her their support in this tough time.
Despite battling COVID-19, what actually affected Navya more were the rumours of her being a ‘deliberate carrier‘.
“Just because I’m tested positive, one need not create a lot of fuss about it,” Navya commented.
Talking about the panic and victimization she was subjected to and how it is more painful than the actual disease – “I’ve realized that this is more of a mental fight than a physical one. So, I chose to be strong and fight it out. There is panic in my neighbourhood, too. Everyone’s like ‘don’t touch that, don’t touch this, don’t come out, stay away from here’. Okay, I get the reality but it really hurts if you get treated like that. It is more painful than the disease.”
Navya has been following the treatment diligently by including a lot of Vitamin C and Zinc in her diet, frequently taking hot water, and steaming 4-5 times a day.
She concluded with a encouraging message to those who are COVID-19 postive – “Please don’t give a damn about what people are talking about you. Stay strong, we will triumph.”
