Surendra Rajan, who played the role of Maqsood Bhai — the sweeper who gets Jaadu Ki Jhappi from Sanjay Dutt in Munna Bhai MBBS, came to Mumbai in March to shoot for a web-series. However, he got stranded here because of the lockdown.
The actor has now run out of money and couldn’t afford to pay the rent of the house where he is staying.
He added he is still in touch with Sanjay Dutt, whom he treats like a son. “I could have asked Sanjay for help but I did not want to rely on anyone. One of my disciples paid Rs 45,000 for three months. I also got help from the RSS as they gave me ration,”
He was longing to go home when his R…Rajkumar co-star, Sonu Sood came to his rescue. He promised to help him and send him back to his hometown Satna, Madhya Pradesh, before June 18.
Surendra Rajan who has played the role of Mahatma Gandhi in many movies including The Legend of Bhagat Singh said “Sonu Sood’s work is amazing and I am surprised that a man is working like this. One cannot do this unless he has a tremendous will to help people from within. He is doing extraordinary work and people like Sonu Sood are rare.”
With Sonu’s generous initiatives to send the migrant workers back to their respective home states who were stranded due to the nationwide lockdown, he has rightfully earned the title of “national hero.”
