The news of 34 year old actor, Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on Sunday morning, 14 June 2020, has left the industry and fans alike reeling in shock. Reportedly, he committed suicide by hanging himself at his Bandra residence.
As per Aaj Tak reports, a few friends of Sushant were also present at his house. When the door to his room was broken down, he was found to have hung himself. According to police reports, he was apparently suffering from depression for past 6 months.
The initial investigation reports from ABP News state, that when a team of Bandra Police rushed to his house they found anti-depressants pills. But no suicide note has been recovered as of now.
Here is the official statement from DCP Pranay Ashok, Spokesperson of Mumbai Police – “#SushantSinghRajput has committed suicide, Mumbai Police is investigating. Police has not found any note yet.”
The late actor is survived by his father and four elder sisters. Currently in his hometown Patna, they are in shock as they came to know about his suicide from the news on TV and had no idea about the reports of his depression!
The news has left Shushant’s father in an unstable condition. Talking to ABP News, Shushant’s cousin Bhavya said, “He had come 3-4 months back for puja at our village…don’t exactly know what happened…his father is shocked and has taken ill.”
Sushant shot to fame in the television industry as Manav in Pavitra Rishta, and had the turning point in his Bollywood career with the biopic M.S Dhoni. He was also seen in films like Kedarnath, Raabta and his last theatrical film was Chhichhore opposite Shraddha Kapoor.
His suicide comes as shocking news just days after the death of his ex-manager Disha Salian. The actor had taken to Instagram to share his condolences.
