Did you watch 2009’s rom-com Life Partner? The movie did quite well at the box office.
It starred Govinda, Prachi Desai, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D’Souza, and Fardeen Khan in key roles.
Bankrolled by Abbas-Mustan, this Rumi Jaffery directorial revolved around the story of three friends. Govinda was seen as a divorce lawyer, while Fardeen Khan and Tusshar as his friends, who got married to Genelia D’Souza and Prachi Desai.
But, did you guys know Govinda wasn’t the first choice of the makers? Instead of him, they reportedly wanted to cast Akshay Kumar in the rom-com.
It is said that Akshay not only liked the script and was excited to come on board but had also allotted dates for the overseas schedule of the film. So, what went wrong?
Well, according to a Pinkvilla report, it was reportedly financial issues that made Akshay step back from the movie.
As the report states, Akshay, who was coming out as a successful comic actor, had reportedly demanded Rs 12 crores for his 20-day work in the movie back then. The producers supposedly felt that it would affect the overall budget of the movie.
However, Abbas-Mustan apparently tried to offer the Welcome actor Rs 8 crores, but he reportedly didn’t accept the offer. Many of you don’t know that it was Akshay who suggested the movie title ‘Life Partner’ to Rumi & Abbas-Mustan.
Finally, Rumi came out with the idea to cast 90’s comedy king Govinda in Life Partner.
