In an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, Aamir Khan opened up about his much-anticipated upcoming movie, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, which he calls a “spiritual sequel” to the beloved Taare Zameen Par, will focus on exploring Down syndrome while maintaining a heartwarming and humorous tone.

He went on to explain what makes Sitaare Zameen Par stand out. “I’m super excited because this is based on one of my favorite themes: the humanity of connecting people, inclusion, and love, spreading happiness. That’s a theme I really adore,” he shared passionately.
Aamir also reflected on the way we perceive people with different abilities. “You know, sometimes we think someone is weak, but actually, they might be ten steps ahead of us, and we just don’t realize it,” he said. “So, I think it’s a great story, and I had a blast creating it. Just like the ‘Taare Zameen Par’ made you cry, Sitaare Zameen Par will make you laugh.”

Addressing the balance between humor and a serious subject, Aamir drew a comparison to filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s style. “People probably wonder how it can be funny if the theme is serious. You know, like Raju Hirani movies, there’s a lot of drama, but there’s also a humorous take on it. This film is kind of like that,” he explained. “It’s about a really important topic that affects all of us in many ways. Each of us has some flaws, some pretty big ones, but we often don’t see them ourselves.”
One of the most intriguing aspects of the film is its cast. Aamir couldn’t stop praising the talented actors who brought the story to life. “I’m not joking – when you watch this film, you’re gonna realize it. There are 10 actors in it who have done such amazing work that I might never be able to pull it off in my life. I’m serious! Those 10 actors have set a high bar.”
For fans of Taare Zameen Par, this new project promises to carry forward the same emotional depth while adding a fresh and uplifting perspective. “I’m happy to move forward with it as a sequel because it feels like a perfect follow-up to Taare Zameen Par,” Aamir concluded.
