EXCLUSIVE: Aamir Khan Went From Being A Teetotaler To Drinking Like Devdas After Divorce With Reena – “Was In Deep Depression”!
Talking about the emotional turmoil he faced, Aamir revealed, “When Reena and I broke up the first time, I was in mourning for almost 2-3 years. I wasn’t working or listening to scripts. I was alone at home, and for almost 1.5 years, I drank a lot. You will be shocked to know that I was a teetotaler.”
For someone who never touched alcohol, this was a drastic shift. Aamir described how he turned to drinking to cope with the pain. “After the split up, I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t sleep at night, and I started drinking. From someone who didn’t drink at all, I went to being someone who drank an entire bottle in a day. I was like Devdas. Someone who is trying to destroy themselves. I did that for 1.5 years. I was in a deep depression.”

Aamir Khan Talks About Facing & Accepting Losses
The emotional weight of the breakup took a significant toll on the superstar, and it wasn’t easy to find his way back. But with time, Aamir realized that facing the truth head-on was the only way to heal.
“I just couldn’t do anything. But you have to face your losses and accept them, and realize how important that thing was for you, which is now gone. You need to accept it and understand how good it was for you when it was there, and how much you’ll miss it now that it’s not.”
Aamir also shared how his honest approach to life, especially when it comes to self-assessment, became his biggest strength during this tough time.
“I have a very real approach to facing loss. I don’t kid myself. Even when I watch my own movies, I say they’re really not that great. I don’t fool myself; I know which scenes are off. So, I’m very fortunate that’s my biggest strength—I don’t lie to myself, no delusions.”
Despite the heartache, Aamir Khan eventually found a way to move forward. His candid confession reminds us that even the biggest stars aren’t immune to pain, and sometimes, the only way to heal is to face our emotions head-on.
