Sanjay Leela Bhansali, one of the best filmmakers in Indian cinema, is working on the most ambitious project of his career—Love & War, with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.
The film is described as an epic love story set against the backdrop of war, where two strong-willed men find themselves in a battle of egos.
Sources close to the project reveal that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is shaping Love & War as an intense face-off between Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
“The film centers around two strong-headed men, played by Ranbir and Vicky, who find themselves in a gripping battle for Alia Bhatt’s character. Both actors are exceptionally talented, and their on-screen clash adds immense depth to the narrative. SLB has already filmed some high-voltage confrontation sequences between them and is extremely impressed with the results, as both bring a commanding presence to the screen,” shared a source.
“In fact, the trio—RK, Alia, and Vicky—have completely immersed themselves in SLB’s world. The shoot is progressing smoothly, and the film remains on track for its scheduled release in March 2026,” the source added.
For those unaware, Ranbir Kapoor’s character in Love & War has negative shades, with an intense, aggressive undertone. “It’s a complex character arc, but it translates powerfully on screen. On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal’s character is more composed yet strong-willed. It’s a classic clash of fire and ice, with both actors delivering larger-than-life performances,” the source revealed.
Both Ranbir and Vicky portray Indian Armed Forces officers in the film. Love & War is scheduled to hit the big screen on March 20, 2026, with filming expected to wrap up by November 2025.
