Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava is a blockbuster at the box office. His performance as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is loved by all. Did you know he was also supposed to be in Takth?
Before portraying the legendary Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava, Vicky Kaushal was once considered for the role of his arch-nemesis, Aurangzeb, in Karan Johar’s Takht.

The film was a period epic announced by Karan Johar five years ago, featuring a star-studded cast that included Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor.
The film’s plot revolves around the wise Mughal prince Dara Shukoh and how his brother, Aurangzeb, plotted to eliminate him in a ruthless battle for the throne.
In the planned cast, Ranveer Singh was set to play Dara Shukoh, while Vicky Kaushal was cast as Aurangzeb. Alia Bhatt was to portray Dilras Banu Begum, Kareena Kapoor as Jahanara Begum, Janhvi Kapoor as Nadira Banu Begum, Bhumi Pednekar as Roshanara Begum, and Anil Kapoor as Shah Jahan, the father of Aurangzeb and Dara Shukoh.

Takht was set to be one of Bollywood’s most ambitious projects but it was reportedly shelved due to the pandemic.
In 2021, Karan Johar shared, “That film is a piece of my heart. I spent two and a half years preparing for it. We were set to begin filming on April 24 when the pandemic hit in March. The project was so enormous, voluminous, and complex that it required a thousand workers on-site every day. It was that kind of movie.”
However, more than two years have passed since the release of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and there has been no official update on Takht.
