Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, shared the unconventional way he tested his sister Ira Khan’s now-husband, Nupur Shikhare, before giving him his approval.
As a protective elder brother, Junaid had one simple rule—anyone wanting to be with Ira had to endure a drinking challenge with him!
While this test had never been put into action before, Nupur was the first to take it on, making their first meeting a truly entertaining and memorable one.
Junaid revealed that his agreement with Ira was simple—she could date anyone she wanted, but they had to take on a drinking challenge with him. Recalling the experience, he shared, “So we started, and at one point, Nupur said, ‘Junaid, you know, I’m actually done.’ That showed maturity. So I told him, ‘Take one more shot, I won’t, and then you’ve won.’ He took the shot and won. Ira even recorded a video of it—it was all very sweet.“
However, the night took an amusing turn. “He ended up spending the rest of the night on the bathroom floor, with Ira sitting next to him. That was really sweet too! Eventually, I picked him up, put him in bed… and then he cuddled with me all night because he was in my bed (laughs).”
Junaid went on to explain why he came up with this unusual test, saying, “That has been my deal with my sister, always. The idea being that she should see them at their drunkest when they have been hammered.”

The couple officially tied the knot in a private marriage registration ceremony on January 3, 2024, at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, surrounded by close family and friends.
Following the formal registration, Ira and Nupur hosted a grand wedding celebration in Udaipur on January 8, 2024. The festivities featured traditional Maharashtrian rituals, including the Kelvan and Haldi ceremonies, honoring Nupur’s cultural roots.
To conclude their wedding celebrations, the couple held a lavish reception on January 13, 2024, at the Lotus Ballroom in Jio World Center, Mumbai. The star-studded event was attended by several Bollywood celebrities, making it a glamorous and unforgettable affair.
