Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi has faced backlash on the internet after his recent comments at the Brahma Anandam pre-release event. During his speech, he shared his thoughts about his family’s legacy and his wish for his son Ram Charan, to have a boy to carry it forward.

Chiranjeevi said, “When I’m at home, it doesn’t feel like I’m surrounded by my granddaughters; it feels like I’m a ladies’ hostel warden, surrounded by ladies all around. I keep wishing and telling Ram, at least this time, have a boy so that our legacy continues, but his daughter is the apple of his eye… I’m scared that he might again have a girl.”
For the unversed, RRR actor Ram Charan and his wife Upasana Konidela welcomed their daughter Klin Kaara in June 2023. Chiranjeevi’s remarks about his desire for a male heir to carry on the family legacy, especially in the context of his granddaughter, have drawn criticism for their perceived misogynistic tone.

Netizens Slam Chiranjeevi’s Comment For A Male Heir
Many netizens expressed their anger on social media, calling out the outdated and sexist notion that only a male child can continue a family’s legacy. One user wrote, “Dear Chiranjeevi garu, I have respect for you as an actor. However, I would appreciate some clarification on your recent statement. It came across as misogynistic and seemed to imply that a legacy can only be carried forward by a male child or men. Did you truly mean to suggest this?”
Another person criticized Chiranjeevi’s comment saying, “Chiranjeevi is scared his son Ram Charan might have another daughter 😡 In 2025, the obsession with a male heir continues. Disappointing, but not surprising.” Similar comments echoed across social media, with many pointing out how this kind of thinking still persists in 2025.
Chiranjeevi’s granddaughter Klin Kaara, whose name is inspired by the Lalitha Sahasranamam and represents transformative, purifying energy, continues to be cherished by her parents, who have expressed immense love for her.
