According to Mr. Khan’s statement to the police, the incident occurred late at night at 2:30 am when he and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, were in their bedroom on the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan building. They were awakened by screams from their younger son Jeh’s nanny, Eliyama Philips.

Rushing to Jeh’s room, the couple found the intruder inside. Ms. Philips was screaming in fear while Jeh was crying. Mr. Khan tried to stop the attacker, but the man stabbed him multiple times on his back, neck, and hands. Despite his injuries, Mr. Khan managed to push the intruder into the room, allowing Ms. Philips to escape with Jeh. He locked the attacker inside the room to contain him.

The attacker had entered the apartment with the intent to rob and had demanded ₹1 crore. At the time, Mr. Khan, Mrs. Kapoor, their sons Jeh and Taimur, and the nanny were all at home.
Mr. Khan, who suffered six stab wounds, including one on his spine, was rushed to Lilavati Hospital. He underwent surgery to repair leaking spinal fluid and received plastic surgery for injuries to his arm and neck. He was discharged on January 21.
Saif Ali Khan Attacker Arrested; Fingerprints Match Crime Scene
Mumbai Police later identified the attacker as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, who had illegally entered India from Bangladesh last year. Fingerprints from the duct pipe, Jeh’s room door handle, and a bathroom door matched with the accused.
The police had launched a three-day manhunt involving 20 teams to track him down. They eventually arrested him in Thane after tracing a Google Pay transaction he made to pay for breakfast.
