Vicky Kaushal’s highly anticipated period drama Chhaava was initially set for a grand box office clash with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule in December 2024.
Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava Postponed To 14 Feb 2025
While Pushpa 2 is locked for release on 5th December 2024, Chhaava, which was earlier slated for 6th December, has now been postponed. The makers have now locked on a new theatrical release date: 14th February 2025.
This strategic shift not only avoids the direct competition but also aligns with the Valentine’s Day weekend. Moreover, the release date holds cultural significance as it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, celebrated on 19th February.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava brings to life the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant Maratha king and son of Shivaji Maharaj. The film, inspired by Shivaji Sawant’s acclaimed Marathi novel, will delve into Sambhaji’s reign, his battles against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, and his enduring legacy. Vicky Kaushal stars in the titular role, while Rashmika Mandanna plays Yesubai Bhonsale, Sambhaji’s devoted wife. Interestingly, Rashmika will also be seen reprising her role as Srivalli in Pushpa 2.

Apart from Chhaava, Vicky has an impressive lineup of projects. He is set to collaborate with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Love and War, a romantic drama co-starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
