Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again is a massy affair but it is as formulaic as it gets. In spite of the Ramayan parallels, the film lacks emotional depth and is reduced to nothing but a surface-level action extravaganza with cameos galore.

The charismatic Ajay Devgn returns as the larger-than-life hero Singham but is let down by a stale and thoroughly mediocre plot. Ranveer Singh’s Simmba and Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi infuse some light-hearted comedy in the midst of all the high-octane action. But Ranveer’s comic act ends up being way too exaggerated, bordering on cringe.

After a massy entry scene, Deepika Padukone is underutilised throughout the film, save for the climax sequence. Tiger Shroff shows off his action prowess but hardly adds anything new to the franchise.

Arjun Kapoor plays a hilariously one dimensional and cartoonish villain. The whole team to take down one AVERAGE villain is honestly an overkill.

Nevertheless, if you’re in the mood for some no-brainer action comedy – Singham Again is the choice for you this Diwali!
