Sunny Deol Announces Border 2 Movie

Actor Sunny Deol announced Border 2 on Thursday, June 13, sharing the film’s announcement video on social media.

This sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 film Border is set to build on the legacy of its predecessor, which was released in theaters on June 13, 1997.

In the announcement video, Deol says, “27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai (Twenty-seven years ago, a soldier made a promise that he would return. To fulfill that promise, to salute the soil of India, he is coming). The video describes Border 2 asIndia’s biggest war film,” with Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam’s iconic “Sandese Aate Hain song playing in the background.

Border 2 will be directed by Anurag Singh, known for films like Dil Bole Hadippa!, Jatt & Juliet, Punjab 1984, and Kesari. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced.

The original Border, set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, featured an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Puneet Issar. Deol portrayed Major Kuldeep Singh, a resolute Sardar leading his battalion. Earlier on Thursday, Jackie Shroff celebrated the 27th anniversary of Border by sharing a video clip from the film, where he played Wing Commander Andy Bajwa.

Border 2 will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, promising to continue the legacy of this iconic war drama.
