11 Indian Actors Who Entered Politics; See List –
From Kangana Ranaut, Thalapathy Vijay to Jaya Bachchan, Rajinikath and more… These celebs have not just entertained fans with their movies but have also joined politics.
1) Kangana Rananut
The latest Bollywood actress to join the actors-turned-politicians list is Kangana Ranaut. Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Queen actress has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Kangana was recently announced as the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi for Lok Sabha elections.

2) Thalapathy Vijay
In February this year, popular Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay announced his political party named Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam. The actor also made it official that he’d step away from films after wrapping up his current commitments.

3) Jaya Bachchan
Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan became a politician in 2004 by joining the Samajwadi party. She was elected to the Rajya Sabha and has been a member of the Parliament since then.
4) Rajinikanth
South Indian superstar Rajnikanth has joined the politics in 2017 with his party Rajini Makkal Mandram. He later dissolved the party in 2021.

5) Shatrughan Singha
Shatrughan Sinha became a cabinet minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ministry in 2003. He is currently a member of the All India Trinamool Congress Party.
6) Hema Malini
Actor Hema Malini joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2004. She is currently a member of the Parliament in Mathura constituency.
7) Kamal Haasan
Actor and filmmaker Kamal Hassan, popular for his movie Chachi 420, is also a politician. He joined politics in 2018 by launching his own political party Makkal Needhi Maiam in Tamil Nadu.
8) Smriti Irani
Smriti Irani, popularly known for her role ‘Tulsi’ in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, joined BJP in 2003. She is currently the minister of Women and Child Development of India.
9) Jayalalithaa
Former actress and late politician Jayalalithaa left a mark on Indian politics. She served as a chief minister for Tamil Nadu for more than 10 years.
10) Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan – the Shahenshah of Bollywood – joined Indian National Congress in 1984. However, he left politics in the late 80s.
11) Govinda
Govinda, too, joined Indian National Congress in 2004. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Mumbai. He later quit politics in 2008 and decided to focus on his film career.
