The film has been directed as well as written by Kangana herself! Produced by Manikarnika Films and Zee Studios, the cast of Emergency includes Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Vishak Nair and Satish Kaushik.
The movie is based on the 1975 Emergency period which was imposed by Former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. Kangana Ranaut plays the titular role and has stepped into the shoes of the first Indian woman PM.

As per news agency PTI, Kangana said in a statement, “Emergency is my most ambitious project and second directorial post-Manikarnika, we have the best of Indian and international talent come together for this big budget, grand period drama.”
Emergency was previously scheduled to hit theatres on 24th November 2023 but then the release got postponed to 2024.
Kangana was recently spotted at the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya.
