The much-awaited Netflix movie The Archies has finally been released and the cast is gaining a lot of appreciation for their role.
It is believed that Vedang Raina, who plays Reggie in The Archies had auditioned for the role of Archie’s initially.
The makers of The Archies hosted a special launch of the film’s first song ‘Sunoh,’ and that is when Vedang revealed the details. Vendang was asked to give a sneak peek into the casting process. He said, “The audition process was super long and rigorous. I gave my first audition in December of 2020. It caught my eye because of the brand, [The] Archie’s and Zoya [Akhtar]. I was in the last year of my undergraduate and thought if this worked out, I wouldn’t have to stress about my job placements and postgrad.”
He further added, “I gave my audition. It was a self-test. It was for Archie’s role actually. And I didn’t hear back for months. Then, four or five months later, I got a callback. I went through multiple self-tests and eventually got another call back for Reggie’s character. I went to the office and Zoya took my audition. It was nerve-wracking, but she was nice and sweet. That’s when I got the role.”
For the unversed, the live-action musical transports viewers on an enchanting journey back to the captivating era of the 1960s, set in the fictional hill town of Riverdale. The film is produced by Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics, and Graphic India. The Archies is released worldwide on Netflix only on December 7, 2023.
