It wasn’t Rashmika Mandanna but Parineeti who was the 1st choice to play the female lead in the upcoming Sandeep Reddy Vanga-Ranbir Kapoor film.

However, she had opted out of the movie in favour of Imtiaz Ali’s film – the biopic of the legendary Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. When asked about rejecting the Ranbir film for Amar Singh Chamkila, she’d said –

The role in this Sandeep Vanga film later landed in Rashmika Mandanna’s lap. Unfortunately, Rashmika has been receiving a lot of trolling for the way she has acted in a particular scene, talking with clenched teeth.

Talking about the viral scene, Director Sandeep Vanga clarified that Rashmika was indeed supposed to speak in a certain way during that moment.
“She was supposed to speak in a particular way because it’s a very emotional scene. I knew there would be a certain reaction to it. When someone is feeling a certain emotion, then they speak with their teeth clenched. I think keeping it in the trailer has only given it multiple views. When you see it as part of the larger scene in the movie, it will make more sense.”

Parineeti was last seen in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Mission Raniganj. She will next be seen in the Netflix film Amar Singh Chamkila. It has been directed by Imtiaz Ali and it stars Diljit Dosanjh in the lead.
Meanwhile, Animal is releasing this Friday and is already shaping up to be one of Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest openers ever. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri in prominent roles.
