Koffee With Karan S8 Episode 5; 5 Highlights From The Show Ft Varun Dhawan & Sidharth Malhotra –
The latest episode of Koffee With Karan S8 welcomed the original ‘students’ – Varun Dhawan & Sidharth Malhotra – on the coffee couch and it was filled with candid revelations and nostalgic moments.
It was a small reunion of Rohan Nanda and Abhimanyu Singh as Varun Dhawan-Sidharth Malhotra took the centre stage on the fifth episode of the Karan Johar-hosted chat show, Koffee With Karan S8. The boys were back on the coffee couch and served Ken-ergy.

1) Alia Bhatt’s Message For Her SOTY Boys:
Alia Bhatt made a special appearance on KWK S8 ep 5 and shared a special video message for her SOTY co-stars VD & Sidharth. She also revealed three lesser-known facts about each of them.
“Three facts about Varun – number 1 is he calls banana ‘buh-na-nuh.’ Number 2, he is very sweet actually whenever he gets a call from a family member or his aunt or any other relative, he says, ‘Pairi pauna’ (I seek your blessings) so he answers the phone and does not say hello and says, ‘Pairi pauna.’ He is very competitive, especially with me.”

“Three facts about Sid that I would like to share – number 1, he’s actually a really good singer. Number 2 is Sid doesn’t party at all but he is one of the best people to get a party started. So this is the inherent Punjabi in him. He just knows how to get people going, he’s really good. Also, he is really hilarious, he is the first person to fall asleep at his own birthday party. Sid takes a while to open up, so there is a distance, says hi, hello, very chivalrous, very well-mannered, that’s generally how he is. The basic thing is that he has got very warm and kind eyes. That is also why he has such a massive fan following.”
She further revealed that Sidharth Malhotra had given her “the first love of her life” which is her cat Edward.
“I am very thankful to Sid because he has given me my first love of my life, Edward,” she concluded.
2) Sidharth Malhotra Opens Up On His Fairytale Romance With Kiara Advni:
During the episode, host Karan Johar was discussing how Sidharth Malhotra-Kiara Advani’s wedding video went viral. To which, the actor said –
“It was not planned. I was quite against putting the video out. But credit goes to Manish and Kiara for saying, ‘Let’s put it out.’ Because I thought it might look forced and we were giving it.”
Sidharth’s rapid fire round proves how doting husband he is in real life! When KJo asked him about the one thing that he misses about being single, he replied – “I miss secretly meeting Kiara Advani.”
The actor further spoke about how his life has changed after his marriage with Kiara. He stated –
“I came to Bombay (Mumbai) about 16 years ago, and I lived by myself for the initial years with friends. I shared rooms and apartments, and now I have this one person I have dated, and obviously, there is so much love. I feel more responsible now; I feel like I have another person I have to take care of. She motivates me to work harder. What binds both of us together is that both of us are very family-oriented. Both of us have that upbringing.”
“Even though she grew up in Mumbai, she is very disconnected. She is not so skewed by whatever is happening in the industry or behind the camera. I like that. I find that very refreshing; she could be in any profession. She handles her stardom in a way, possibly in a similar way that I like it. Even today, we like spending time together and meeting families. I never had a family in Bombay, but now I do thanks to her,” he concluded.

3) When Varun Dhawan’s Father Took A Dig At Him:
Varun shared a throwback story when his father and filmmaker David Dhawan once took a savage dig at him when he fell off a bike during Main Tera Hero movie shoot.
Recalling the incident, he said –
“So, when I was shooting for Main Tera Hero, I had a bike shot entering the college, and I fell down. My dad said on the mic, “Arey yeh Dharma ka hero hai, bahut nazuk hai (He’s a delicate Dharma hero).”

4) Revisiting The SOTY Days
Varun, Sid and KJo took a trip down to memory lane and revisited their shooting days of Student of the Year. When Karan shared “When I went to the van and told her (Alia Bhatt) that she was on, and said ‘I’m directing the film,’ she burst out crying and the first thing she said is “Can I eat a cupcake?”, Sidharth interrupted him and said, “Because you starved her.” Both Varun and Sid humorously agreed on KJo making Alia starved. Sid said, “You didn’t want people to eat any food.”
Varun then humorously added, “He was not letting us eat. He had very rationed food coming over. There were no carbs. I remember you (Sidharth) were so dehydrated twice.” Sidharth said, “It was child labor.”
“That was a different Karan Johar. He used to wear shorts and direct on the beach,” VD shared. The actors laughed and said, “He had more looks than us.”
5) Karan Johar Shares A Cute Sid-Kiara Moment:
During the conversation, Karan Johar shared an adorable anecdote about Sid-Kiara from their dating phase which will surely melt your heart. The filmmaker mentioned how the couple had a fight before attending one of his parties. H recalled they had reconciled at the party and also noticed Kiara feeding him.
“I remember they (Sidharth and Kiara) were having a fight, he was having a high fever, and he had come to my party. But it was very sweet, because two hours later they were sitting together and she was feeding him. At that point, I realised that this is going to happen, they are going to happen.”
