Filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi has passed away at the age of 57.
He was known for directing films like Dhoom, Dhoom 2, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and more.
According to reports, Sanjay Gadhvi has breathed his last on Sunday morning (19 November 2023). The cause of his death is suspected to be heart attack.
As per ETimes, the filmmaker experienced chest pain while taking a morning walk earlier today on Lokhandwala Back road.
He was immediately rushed to the nearby Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Sanjina Gadhvi, the elder daughter of the late filmmaker, confirmed the tragic news with PTI and said –
“He passed away at 9.30 am this morning at his residence. We are not sure what it is, but it is most likely a heart attack. He wasn’t unwell, he was perfectly healthy.”
He is survived by his wife Gina and two daughters. The filmmaker was about to turn 58 in three days. As reported by Times Now, the last rites will be held in the evening today.
Reacting to his sudden demise, filmmaker Kunal Kohli took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote –
“This is beyond shocking. #SanjayGadhvi RIP never thought I’d have to write your obituary. Shared an office for many years at YRF, lunch dubbas, discussions. Will miss you my friend. This is too hard to accept.”

Sanjay Gadhvi made his directorial debut with Tere Liye in 2000. His first film with Yash Raj Films was Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002). He first gained attention when he directed the action thriller Dhoom in 2004. He then directed the sequel to Dhoom, called Dhoom 2.
Gadhvi also directed Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan and Minissha Lamba-starrer Kidnap in 2008, Arjun Rampal-starrer Ajab Gazabb Love in 2012 and Amit Sadh and Rahul Dev-starrer Operation Parindey in 2020.
