Zeenat Aman eyelid surgery; Check out her health update –
The veteran actress underwent an eyelid surgery for her 40-year-old eye injury.
The OG diva, Zeenat Aman recently revealed on Instagram that earlier in May this year she underwent an eye surgery. She has been suffering from a condition called Ptosis – which leads to the drooping of the upper eyelid – for the past 40 years due to an injury in her right eye.
She also opened up on her battle with the condition and how she started losing opportunities because of it.
Zeenat Aman On Her Eyelid Surgery:
The veteran actress revealed that the condition was a result of an injury – causing damaged muscles in her right eye – that she had suffered decades ago. She added that her condition worsened with time and started to “obstruct” her vision.
Sharing a heartwarming picture of her son Zahaan kissing her forehead, she penned a lengthy note which read –
“I have a condition know as ptosis – the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye. Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision.”
She further continued –
“When so much of one’s career is predicated on one’s appearance, coming to terms with a dramatic change to it is difficult. I know for a fact that this ptosis narrowed my opportunities and made me the subject of unwanted attention. But despite the gossip, the comments, and the questions, I never felt diminished by it. It helped of course that there were always a few stalwarts that stood by me and chose to work with me still.”
“The treatments available to me at that time, and for decades after, were unsuccessful. Then this year in April, a leading ophthalmologist informed me that things had advanced, and a surgery to lift the eyelid and restore my field of vision was possible.”
Zeenat Aman Shares Health Update:
Sharing her health update, the 71-year-old actress stated that she is still on the road to recovery.
“Recovery has been slow, steady and is ongoing. But I’m happy to share that my vision is so much clearer now.”
– she added.
On the work front, Zeenat Aman is all set to make her acting comeback with the upcoming movie, Bun Tikki, which will be produced by the ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra. Directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, the film also stars Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol.
