Plot:
Friday Night Plan is a coming-of-age drama that revolves around two bickering brothers Sid Menon (played by Babil Khan) and Adi Menon (played by Amrith Jayan) who are quite different from each other.
Sid is an introverted nerdy guy who suddenly becomes popular after scoring a winning goal in the inter-school football match. Sid, the star boy, gets invited by the rich brats of his school to the FNP (Friday Night Plan). On other hand, his younger sibling Adi is an extroverted fun, mischievous guy.
When their mother (played by Juhi Chawla) leaves for a business trip to Pune, the duo head off secretly to the hottest party of the year before she returns.
Meanwhile, a chaos unfolds at the happening after-school party. Will the two brothers be there for each other where it counts?
What Do We Think?
Friday Night Plan is a light-hearted simple movie with no world-shattering problems or serious teenage issues or any major twists or turns. Director Vatsal Neelakantam refreshingly shows the sibling bond… They fight, they argue, they disagree lot but they always have each other’s back.
However, the movie has its heart at the right place, but lacks soul. The music is also average.
The film works majorly because of the two brothers – Sid and Adi. Babil and Amrith’s onscreen camaraderie is a treat to watch.
After receiving rave reviews for his performance in his debut movie Qala, Babil Khan has put his best foot forward. His onscreen presence with those honest eyes have added depth to the narrative. Babil has effortlessly portrayed the emotions of the elder sibling, the bond between siblings in a relatable manner. From showing vulnerability to demonstrating resilience, his performance evoked emotions in a convincing manner.
Amrith Jayan stands out as Sid! He is confident, goofy and has played the role of a pestering younger brother to a T. Juhi Chawla made a guest appearance as their mother. She is warm and pleasant. The rest of the cast lend a decent support o the narrative.
