What Do We Think:

Nushrratt Bharuccha Akelli movie review

Nushratt Bharuccha’s Akelli could have been a hard-hitting survival drama but for the most part, it feels emotionally hollow.

It feels very sanitised – Nushratt’s glossy, silky hair doesn’t fall out of place even when she’s on the run from terrorists, fighting for her life. It takes the danger out of the moment.

The 1st half feels very slow and predictable and even the action sequences lack in striking the right chord. Nushratt hams her way through the first half but seems resolute and perseverant in the 2nd half. Only the latter part of 2nd half has some genuinely thrilling moments of action.

Nishant Dahiya gives an earnest performance and deserved more screen time. Tsahi Halevi brings the sinister energy but his character could have been developed better. Overall, Akelli could have been a compelling ride but it seems half-baked for the most part.
