Karan Johar is all set to make his directorial comeback with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
As per latest buzz, KJo apparently rejected Shah Rukh Khan to be a part of this rom-com.
Given the history of KJo’s successful collaborations with SRK in the past, speculations were rife that the actor might do a cameo in RRKPK, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead.
However, the latest report suggests that Karan didn’t want SRK to appear in the film for appearance’s sake.
According to Koimoi, SRK had apparently offered Karan to be a part of this venture. However, the filmmaker had decided not to include him as a mere cameo.
“Karan Johar just didn’t want SRK to make an appearance for appearance’s sake. It had to have some relevance to the plot. But this time, he just didn’t fit in anywhere in the story.”
– a source informed the portal.
As the report further suggests, Karan even rejected the idea of Shah Rukh hopping into one of the songs.
“Even that option didn’t seem right. Karan didn’t feel like forcing SRK into the plot. During his career so far SRK has done approximately 30-35 guest appearances for friends. Karan never wants to misuse his closeness to Shah Rukh and his wife Gauri.”
– the source added.
“He reminded Karan that he is Karan’s lucky mascot. But Karan reminded SRK that he did not want Shah to pop in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and vanish quickly. SRK’s fans would have protested.”
– the source concluded.
After releasing the trailer, Karan had reportedly gone live on Instagram. Confirming SRK’s absence from RRKPK, Kjo had said –
“No, he is not (in the movie) but his love and blessings are always with me. He is family to me and he was the first person to put out the first unit of ROcky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.”
