There will finally be some closure in Jiah Khan suicide case.
It is being reported that the Mumbai court will pronounce its verdict in the Jiah Khan suicide case this Friday – April 28, 2023.
Jiah Khan Case Details:
Jiah died by suicide on 3rd June 2013. She was found hanging from her bedroom ceiling. She left behind a lengthy 6-page suicide note detailing her troubled relationship with Sooraj Pancholi. She alleged that Sooraj had cheated on her. Shockingly, she also revealed that she had gotten pregnant and had to abort Sooraj’s baby.
Pancholi was accordingly booked for abetment to suicide and arrested on 11th June. In July 2013, Sooraj was acquitted and released on bail by Bombay High Court.
Transferred To CBI
However, Jiah’s mother Rabia was insistent that the case be transferred either to SIT (special investigation team) or CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation). CBI came on board in 2014 and in December 2015 a supplementary charge sheet was filed alleging Pancholi of abetting Khan’s suicide.
In 2016, CBI ruled out murder in Jiah’s case by confirming that she died by hanging. However, Rabia was of the opinion that forensic evidence suggested Jiah was murdered and it was staged as a suicide instead. She even wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi in 2017 about the same.
Special CBI Court Took Over
Lastly, a Special CBI Court took over the case in 2021. Sooraj accused Jiah’s mother Rabia of delaying and hindering the case by not appearing in court! The arguments in the case concluded on 20th April and the verdict will finally be out on April 28 by 10:30 am allegedly.
