1. RRR

Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR recently recently grabbed three nominations at the Golden Globes. Starring Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt & Ajay Devgn, this period action-drama created waves at the global box office.

2. The Kashmir Files

Rating: 8.3/10

The Vivek Agnihotri directorial, The Kahmir Files created waves across the nation. Based on the 1990 Exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits/Hindus during Kashmir Insurgency, the film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumaar, amongst others, in pivotal roles.

3. KGF: Chapter 2

Rating: 8.4/10

KGF: Chapter 2 – one of the most-anticipated films of 2022 – continues the story of Rockyfrom where we left off in the 1st part. Mounted on a big-scale, the out-n-out mass action entertainer was directed by Prashanth Neel.

4. Kantara

Rating: 8.6/10

Starring Rishab Shetty and Sapthami Gowda in the lead roles, Kantara smashed all the box office records and minted more than Rs 400 crores at the global box office. Directed by Rishab, the movie involves the culture of Kambala and Bhootha Kola – a human and nature conflict where Shiva is a rebel who defends his village and nature.

5. Vikram

Starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Vikram is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie revolves around a special agent who investigates a murder committed by a masked group of serial killers. However, a tangled maze of clues soon leads him to the drug kingpin of Chennai

6. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect

Based on the life of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect marks R. Madhavan‘s directorial debut. He played the titular role, the patriotic scientist who left an offer at NASA for working in ISRO, was falsely accused of spying.

7. Major

Rating: 8.2/10

Directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, Major is based on the life of 26/11 hero Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Staring Adivi Sesh in the lead, the movie was an emotional and befitting homage to the bravery of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and his sacrifice in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

8. Sita Ramam

Sita Ramam, starring Dulquer Salmaan & Mrunal Thakur in the lead, was a super-hit movie. This Hanu Raghavapudi directorial garnered positive response from the audience and critics alike. The movie tells the story of an orphaned soldier whose life changes after he receives a letter from a girl named Sita. He meets her and love blossoms between them. When he returns to her camp in Kashmir, he sends a letter to Sita that will not reach her.

Sirected by Mani Ratnum, the magnum opus is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical fiction novel of the same name. The movie stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi amongst others.

10. 777 Charlie

Starring Rakshit Shetty in the lead, the Kannada movie, 777 Charlie, tells the story of Dharma who is a loner. He is stuck in a rut with his negative and lonely lifestyle and spends each day in the comfort of his loneliness. A pup named Charlie enters his life and changes everything.
