Bhediya is a non-stop laugh riot with great VFX. The werewolf comedy also sprinkles in some tribal culture, ecological messages, and anti-racism in a fun but sincere way.

Full Bhediya Movie Review –

Rating: 3.5/5

Director: Amar Kaushik (Stree fame)

Cast: Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Abhishek Banerjee, Deepak Dobriyal

Runtime: 2h 36m

Storyline:

Varun Dhawan plays Bhaskar -a small contractor who has the chance to make it big after landing a golden deal with Bagga (Saurabh Shukla).

He has been tasked with building a road right through the lush forests of Arunachal Pradesh. The people aren’t too happy with it and local fellow Panda (Deepak Dobriyal) even says this action might incite the wrath of the mysterious Vishanu monster.

Nevertheless, Bhaskar and his companions Guddu (Abhishek Banerjee) and Jomin (Paalin Kabak) get started on the work. Until one fateful night, Bhaskar gets bitten on the ass by a strange wolf with gleaming red eyes.

Bhaskar then transforms into a werewolf, going on targeted killing sprees every night. He’s being treated by the indecisive AF vet doctor Annika (Kriti Sanon). Now, Annika appears to play the fool most of the time, but there is more to her than it seems.

Watch Bhediya for the howl-some comedy and thrills!

What Do We Think:

Like Stree, Amar Kaushik’s werewolf comedy is a thoroughly entertaining laugh riot from start to finish. While the plot may be quite predictable, the execution is great.

No complaints in the VFX department either, it is quite neat and stunning. The transformation scene in particular is great! The background score is haunting and songs like Jungle Mein Kaand add that right punch of energy.

The only problem is, Bhediya takes the entire first half to set up the basic premise. But non-stop funny one-liners will leave you chuckling in high spirits. Things pick up pace in the 2nd half with one major twist in the climax. A satisfactory ending indeed.

From mythology and tribal culture to ecological messages and a lesson against the racism faced by the NortheastBhediya manages to touch upon several topics in a light-hearted yet sincere way.

The warm camaraderie between the trio of Varun, Abhishek and Paalin is truly tod-fod! Their banter is very hilarious and when you add Deepak Dobriyal in the mix, it’s a houseful comedy indeed. For real though, Abhishek Banerjee stands apart with his epic comic timing.

Kriti Sanon has an interesting character to play and even her comic sense as the ditzy doctor is endearing. She looks mega cute in her short hair too! Varun Dhawan excels in this werewolf avatar, showing off his chiselled body and balancing the silliness and the action nicely.

Hit Or Miss:

Bhediya has all the makings of a hit comedy. Go watch in the theatres, it is definitely worth watching. Don’t leave immediately… There’s a surprise from Stree too in the post-credits scene.
