Bollywood filmmakers are reconsidering their decisions after looking at a lot of big-budget films do miserably at the box office.
One such movie that is being reconsidered is Kriti and Shahid’s upcoming rom-com with Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films.
As per reports, Shahid and Kriti’s rom-com has been put on hold for the time being. A source says, “Shahid was not happy with the final draft and has asked for changes, especially in the climax, which he felt was a little precipitous. Dinesh and Amit Joshi (writer and director) have also agreed, and they are now fixing the script for him. As the writing will take some more time, they have collectively decided to postpone the production to the first quarter of next year.”
However, the script issue is not the only reason behind the film’s postponement. Sources say that Shahid’s high remuneration was yet another hassle the makers were facing, and although they’re still negotiating, things haven’t fallen into place so far. “Shahid is demanding a fee much higher than his market value, which has further gone down post the debacle of Jersey. The film is a unique, VFX-heavy story which needs to be mounted on a certain scale. However, Shahid’s high fee will make the film even costlier, which doesn’t seem to be a financially feasible decision given the current scenario of films at the box office. They have asked Shahid to reduce his price and the negotiation is going on as we speak,” the source further said, clarifying that the film is still in work and is only “delayed,“ not “shelved,” at this moment.
The movie was said to be a robot rom-com—a quirky Indian take on the romance between a man and a machine, with Shahid playing a robotics guy while Kriti Sanon is a robot. “It’s more like Ex Machina meets Bahu Hamari Rajnikant. It’s a Hollywood concept told in the typical Indian context and promises audiences a unique and enticing experience packed with loads of drama and quirkiness,” the source had previously told us.
