Lata Mangeshkar has passed away on Sunday (February 6) morning after suffering from multiple organ failure last night.
The legendary singer had tested positive for Covid-19 and was being treated for pneumonia as well at the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai.
In her 8-decade-long career, late Lata Ji had sung over 36,000 songs in different languages.

1. Real Name – Hema
Lata ji was born as Hema but was later renamed Lata, after a character called ‘Latika’ from her father’s play ‘Bhaaw Bandhan’.
2. Debut Song Was Removed From The Movie
According to a report, the legendary singer recorder her first song as a playback singer “Naachu Yaa Gade, Khelu Saari Mani Haus Bhaari” in 1942 for a Marathi film titled ‘Kiti Hasaal’. Unfortunately, the song was removed from the movie during the final cut.
3. Guinness World Record
The Guinness Book of Records had listed Lata Mangeshkar as ‘the most recorded artist in music hisory’ in its edition in 1974 for recording 25,000 songs different languages.
4. Never Wanted A Biopic On Her Life
Back in 2016, the late singer had revealed during an interview that she didn’t want a biopic to be made on her life. She had said, “I wouldn’t let a biopic be made on me. That’s because I don’t believe in them.”
As per India Today, Lata Ji had always refused to give rights to Bollywood producers to make an official biopic on her life.

Yes, late Lata Mangeshkar was the first-ever Indian artist to perform at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London with the Wren Orchestra back in 1974.
6. Served As A Member of Parliament In Rajya Sabha
According to a report, Lata Mangeshkar was elected as an MP (Member of Parliament) in Rajya Sabha (Upper House) in November 1999 with the support of BJP and remained in the house for six years till November 2005.
