Aryan Khan‘s imprisonment after the cruise drug bust case has been the talk of the nation for weeks now.
This has also led to fans extending support to the Khan family in the midst of such a painful crisis. Shah Rukh Khan’s old interviews have also surfaced, reminding us of the love they have for each other.
In 2013, Shah Rukh had explained in an interview that he had given his children pan-religious names for a very specific reason. His eldest is named Aryan, then comes his only daughter Suhana and finally, the youngest son AbRam.
The megastar says, “I gave my son and daughter names that could pass for generic ones: Aryan and Suhana. The Khan has been bequeathed by me so they can’t really escape it. I pronounce it from my epiglottis when asked by Muslims and throw the Aryan as evidence of their race when non-Muslims enquire.”
He also added that this would prevent them from receiving unwarranted eviction orders and random fatwas in the future. Of course, his humour never disappoints. He states, “It will also keep my two children completely confused. Sometimes, they ask me what religion they belong to and, like a good Hindi movie hero, I roll my eyes up to the sky and declare philosophically, ‘You are an Indian first and your religion is humanity’, or sing them an old Hindi film ditty, ‘Tu Hindu banega na Musalmaan banega – insaan ki aulaad hai insaan banega’.”
