In Bollywood, making sequels to popular Hindi films is quite common. While sometimes the makers keep the original cast, sometimes they don’t.
Today, let’s take a look at these 6 B-Town actors/actresses who were replaced in the sequels.
1. Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar made everyone laugh with his impeccable acting in ‘Welcome’ & ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’. However, he got replaced in both the sequels. John Abraham was roped in to play the lead role in ‘Welcome Back’, whereas Kartik Aaryan replaced him in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’.
2. Saif Ali Khan- Race 3
Saif Ali Khan had garnered rave reviews for his dashing performance in ‘Race’ & ‘Race 2’. When the makers decided to make the third part- Race 3- they had offered the lead role to Salman Khan. Reportedly, Saif once revealed that Ramesh Taurani had offered another role to Saif, which he rejected as he didn’t feel connected to it.
3. Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan was critically acclaimed for her performance in ‘Ishqiya’, co-starring Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah. However, in the sequel- ‘Dedh Ishquiya’, the actress was replaced by Madhuri Dixit.
4. Emraan Hashmi
Emraan Hashmi played the lead role in ‘Murder’ & ‘Murder 2’. According to the media, the actor didn’t like the script of ‘Murder 3’ and had also suggested few changes. Later, the makers roped in Randeep Hooda to play the lead in the third installment.
5. Arshad Warsi
Directed by Subhash Kapoor, ‘Jolly LLB’ had featured Arshad Warsi in the lead role. However, the actor got replaced by Akshay Kumar in the sequel ‘Jolly LLB 2’.
6. Kajal Aggarwal
Popular South-Indian actress Kajal Aggarwal made her Bollywood debut with the Rohit Shetty directorial ‘Singham’. Starring Ajay Devgn in the male lead, the cop action-drama became a huge hit at the box office. However, Kareena Kapoor Khan replaced her in the sequel ‘Singham Returns’.
