Popular Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has been steadily carving his niche in Bollywood.
Diljit is known for his performances in Phillauri, Soorma, Udta Punjab and Good Newzz. His last Bollywood outing was the comedy flick Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari.
Diljit has quite a few interesting Bollywood projects lined up – like the crime-comedy Detective Sherdil, Netflix web series with Rajkummar Rao (yet untitled) as well as a film on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
However, the Punjabi munda is far from starstruck and doesn’t give a damn about getting work in Bollywood. In conversation with Film Companion, Diljit got quite candid about his Bollywood journey and fired some shots!
“I give a damn about getting work in Bollywood. I don’t want to work in Bollywood. I have no such desire that I should become a big Bollywood star. I love music and I can make it without anyone’s interference. No one can tell me this will work or that will work.”
Diljit elaborated on how he doesn’t need anyone’s validation – “Every artist in Punjab makes his/her own music. We have that freedom. No one can stop us. No one can stop me from making music. I don’t give a damn about getting work in Bollywood!”
When asked about his experience in the industry, Diljit concluded on a biting retort – “If I speak up about it, it’ll become a big deal. I’m not crazy about working with anybody; no actor, no director. They can be superstars in their own homes.”
Whoa! On the Punjabi movies front, Diljit has Honsla Rakh with Bigg Boss 14 fame Shehnaaz Gill.
