Vicky Kaushal-Sara Ali Khan’s modern-day superhero trilogy ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ is said to have its roots in the Mahabharata epic.
Fans have been waiting in anticipation for this ambitious venture, but it looks like the project is going to be ON HOLD for some time sadly.
Sara and Vicky were training earnestly for their action-packed roles, the team had also done multiple recces in foreign locations for the shoot, worked on the entire pre visualisation….
Bollywood Hungama also reported that Ronnie Screwvala had put in almost 30 crores to get things started but the budget kept getting bigger and he was worried about recovering the profit, especially given the Covid scenario.
If this latest Pinkvilla report is to be believed, then the mammoth budget of bringing ‘Ashwathama to life in a futuristic world’ had touched nearly 300 CRORES!
“In the last draft of the script, the ambition of the movie and the budget did not match and the overall uncertainty fueled by COVID, did not help. So all of us – Aditya (Dhar), Vicky (Kaushal) and I – decided that we need to put this back for another six to nine months,” Ronnie Screwvala said in his statement.
As of now, things are on a hiatus for this magnum opus.
