The highly-anticipated upcoming Netflix series ‘Bahubali: Before The Beginning’ is hitting the news again.
The series is the prequel to S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster franchise ‘Bahubali’.
If this Peeping Moon report is to be believed, South Superstar Nayanthara has reportedly been roped in to play a pivotal role in this series. This project marks her OTT debut.
While her character details have been kept under wraps for now, the report suggests that Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi is supposedly playing the role of ‘Sivagami’ in the much-talked-about prequel. She will also be seen in Anushka Sharma’s Netflix series ‘Mai’, co-starring Sakshi Tanwar.
The production team is said to be waiting for the monsoons to get over so that they can build the lavish outdoor sets of the Mahishmati kingdom.
Based on Anand Neelkanthan‘s book ‘The Rise of Sivagami’, the series will highlight the dramatic rise of Sivagami- her journey of becoming the powerful queen of Mahishmati. As Koimoi earlier reported, Bollywood directors- Kunal Deshmukh and Ribhu Dasgupta are helming the project.
According to the portal, the series, which was earlier shot in 2018 South Indian filmmakers Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru, with ‘Toofaan’ actress Mrunal Thakur playing the young Sivagami.
Reportedly, the final product didn’t turn out the way it was expected. Hence, the team decided to reshoot with a fresh cast and director.
