Given the current pandemic situation, people are preferring OTT platforms over theatres to watch movies.
Meanwhile, the producers have yet again started exploring the possibility of a direct to digital premiere for their respective films.
Now, we hear that Disney+ Hotstar has reportedly bought 4 Bollywood movies that are already shot and ready to release.
According to the latest Peeping Moon report, the streaming platform has apparently bought Kriti Sanon starrer Mimi, Hungama 2, starring Paresh Rawal-Shilpa Shetty- Meezaan Jaffrey- Pranitha Subhash in lead roles, Sunny Kaushal, Radhika Madan, Mohit Raina, and Diana Penty‘s Shiddat, and Kirti Kulhari & Nivedita Bhattacharya starrer Shaadistan.
“Disney+Hotstar is again going with all guns blazing. They have acquired four new films and are in talks for some more Hindi titles that will straightly premiere on the service between June and October 2021. However, this year they have bought mostly the small and medium budget films compared to last year’s slate that included three A-lister projects (Laxmmi, Bhuj: The Pride of India, The Big Bull). The streaming giant is in final negotiation with the filmmakers before locking the deal. They are expected to announce the films officially once all the paperwork is done,” a source informed the portal.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Mimi is based on the story of a surrogate mother. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the movie also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Saie Tamhankar in important roles.
Produced by, once again, Dinesh Vijan’s ‘Maddock Films’, Shiddat is an out-and-out love story, while Shaadistan is apparently a road-trip story. Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2 is the much-awaited sequel of 2003’s hit comedy movie Hungama.
