1. Jalsa– Earlier Home To Producer NC Sippy?
Yes, Big B’s iconic bungalow Jalsa was renowned producer NC Sippy’s home earlier. On completing 46 years of his movie Chupke Chupke, Big B revealed this in a post. He wrote, “‘Chupke Chupke’our film by Hrishikesh MUKERJI.. closing today at 46 years ..!! This house you see in the picture is Producer NC Sippy’s house .. we bought it , then sold it , then bought it back again .. rebuilt it .. this is our home now JALSA!!”
2. Movies Shot At Jalsa
In that post, Big B also revealed that many of his movies including Anand, Namak Haram, Chupke Chupke, Satte Pe Satta, amongst others, were shot at Jalsa.
3. Not Jalsa, it was earlier named …..!
Did you know, Amitabh-Jaya Bachchan’s this lavish abode was earlier named Mansa? In one of his blog posts, Big B revealed the story behind the name Mansa. “Jalsa renamed after it was called Mansa. Mansa the Mother of this generational family of the Father, the originator of this legacy Bachchan. Not the Mother but perhaps the great grandmother. Tradition must be given respect dignity and honour.”
4. Mansion Worth Millions
Located in Juhu, Big B-Jaya’s posh, ultra-luxurious mansion Jalsa is indeed super expensive. As per an India TV report, the two-storey abode, spanning over 10,125 sq ft, is reportedly valued at between Rs 100-120 crores.
5. Mansa– The lawn behind Jalsa
The lawn behind Jalsa, which was acquired later, had been named Mansa. Yes, you heard this right! “Mansa changed to be named Jalsa and the lawn behind Jalsa, a small lawn, acquired later, has been named Mansa,” the 78-year-old actor once wrote in his blog.
6. Wasn’t Named Under Big B
According to reports, Big B’s house Jalsa wasn’t named under him at first. If this TOI report is to be believed, the mansion was originally under the name of Amitabh’s brother, Ajitabh Bachchan’s wife Ramola Bachchan. Due to some tax-related issues, Jalsa was registered under Jaya Bachchan’s name in 2006.
