‘My Daughter Saw Me Getting Beaten Up’; Shweta Tiwari On Past Abusive Marriages

Known for her character in ‘Kasautii Zindagi Kay’ and for winning Bigg Boss 8, Shweta Tiwari always found a way to dazzle fans.

Sadly, this diva has suffered terrible marriages and finally spoke on getting out of abusive relationships.

Shweta had married Raja Chaudhary in 1998 and filed for divorce in 2012. She then later on wed her co-star Abhinav Kohli in 2013 and separated in 2019. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, she spoke about her daughter Palak Tiwari witnessing her getting physically abused by her ex-husbands at the age of 6. She had also accused Abhinav Kohli of threatening her of recording their conversations.

“In the lobby of my residential building, he (Abhinav) told me, ‘Ek aurat ki image kharab karne me kya lagta hai (It takes just one post to ruin a woman’s image), just one post. Just one post, and you will be ruined’. After 5 to 6 days, he started posting, to spoil my reputation,” Shweta reveals.

Tiwari then spoke about her daughter, Palak Tiwari. “Palak does not show me that she is sad. She saw me getting beaten up. She saw women coming home. She was 6 years old when I decided to break off my [first] marriage. She has seen the police coming to my home. She has seen me going to the police station. My four-year-old son also knows about police and judges. It is not safe, but it is not only because of me. For a child to be knowing all this at this age is not healthy but I am unable to do anything about it because I have no way out.”

Shweta Tiwari and Abhinav Kohli welcomed their first child, Reyansh, in 2016. In 2017, Shweta filed a complaint of domestic violence against Abhinav Kohli following which he was taken into police custody.

“When I took the first step, a lot of people told me ‘think about your children, think about your daughter’. But, I did not listen to them. Whatever I did has made my daughter wiser, intelligent and strong. My daughter understood the difference between right and wrong,” the actress says.
