EXCLUSIVE: Dhvani Bhanushali On ‘What We Can Learn From K-POP’ & ‘Need For Female-Led Albums’

Be it the groovy ‘Leja Re’, the cute and dreamy ‘Nayan’ or her latest mesmerizing song ‘Radha’, Dhvani Bhanushali has something for every mood!

The gorgeous pop star opened up in an exclusive, candid chat with Instant Bollywood – talking about the need for female-led albums and what we can learn from Kpop!

Is it time to have Female-led albums?

“Female songs have always done so well… it’s time to have a complete female album, be it in films or if any artist wants to do.

Dhvani in favour of melody-driven songs rather than item numbers

There are fewer female songs and I don’t understand why. More than item songs there should be melody-driven numbers as well. We can do that in the independent space, but it gets lost in films.”

Dhvani’s take on K-pop?

“They have really exploded! Blackpink, BTS… Kpop artists have a whole mechanism in place, and here we don’t have that – no community yet. Either labels (should do it) or a system should be made; on how you MAKE an artist, create opportunities for them.

“Kpop artists have a whole mechanism in place, we don’t yet– Dhvani

For Kpop –  they build a whole school, build ARTISTS, training them for years together before they’re given a platform. That should happen here, there’s so much talent in our country. Indian pop should be everywhere, Indian artists also deserve to be on a global platform!”

Genre she likes/ doesn’t like?

Rock vs Instrumental?

Did you know Dhvani is not really a fan of rock music?

“It’s too much for my brain,” she says.

On the other hand, she can listen to INSTRUMENTAL music 24/7, from any genre.
