After Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Parineeti Chopra’s next movie ‘Saina’ will also be hitting the theatres on 26th March 2021.
While Parineeti looks fierce and determined in the Saina Nehwal biopic, it was Shraddha Kapoor who was initially supposed to play the ace badminton player.
So why exactly did Shraddha QUIT the film, fans wondered?
Well, the question was answered by Saina director Amole Gupte. Talking to PTI, he revealed that it was Shraddha’s health issues that got in the way of the project. And considering this was a ‘sports film’, physical exertion would have been required for the role.
“Initially we had Shraddha in the film, who was completely prepared for the role, which is why we started shooting. But then she fell ill, she got dengue which took the wind out of her.
Since it was a sports film, she couldn’t muster the courage to come for 12 hours and stand on a badminton court while she was unwell,” the filmmaker said.
Shraddha also had to work on Chhichhore but once that was wrapped, Bhushan Kumar requested Amole if she could be allowed to work on Street Dancer 3D as well since he was in a crisis.
“Bhushan Kumar needed someone because the film was about to go on floors. So Shraddha went there. Then Bhushan brought in Parineeti for Saina. It was a win-win for all of us,” Amole concluded.
All’s well that ends well. Will you be going to the theatres to watch Saina?
