Ratings: 3.5/5

Storyline

Known for generating a scam along with her boss and thereby earning million, self-made Sandeep Kaur (Parineeti Chopra) was in no time running for her life. The deceptive Pinky Dahiya (Arjun Kapoor) poses as a Haryanvi police officer despite being out of work as a result of his suspension. Pinky finds his way to Sandeep and drags her into the reality that there has been a target fixated on her life. The fact is noticed at a planned shootout that the pair stumble upon. Together, the two of them run away (which naturally took extreme persuasion from Sandeep) and make it into a distant area that is foreign to Sandeep’s usual lavish lifestyle. Pinky however seems to find it easy to adjust clearly leaving us with the impression that he’s done this before.

After their long journey, Sandeep and Pinky find themselves requesting an old couple to lodge them for the time being. Of course, the old pair (Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav) were more than happy to earn a few extra bucks and hand around the house. While Sandeep was actually pregnant, she took the advantage of the situation and made Pinky her pretend husband which worked in their favour. Thus began Sandeep and Pinky’s journey as fugitives, running away from their own lives.

What Do We Think?

Sandeep Kaur and Pinky Dahiya are the most implausible accomplices but manage to work their way through innumerable differences. Their love-hate relationship is already working wonders for them when it comes to keeping themselves safe. The film is a smartly fabricated work of art and definitely needs to be watched with the utmost attention. This is a thriller that can grab your mind in no time.

Dibakar Banerjee’s direction is meritorious as he finds ways to emphasise each of his character’s personality traits with dialogues and body language. For instance, Sandeep being the witty and calm persona knew how to reveal her pregnancy to Pinky as her was on the verge of killing her. Whereas Pinky being the brooding buff conman openly admits to not being able to smile and of course his dialogue, “Use head not heart” shows us his temperament.

Hit or Miss?

Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar couldn’t be less than a hit. The movie is a very intellectual story with dashes of fun and love here and there. It is definitely not your typical love story.
