Following the stir in social media, Maharashtra Congress general secretary and spokesperson Sachin Sawant alleged that these celebrities tweeted in support of the Centre’s statement under pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Now, as reported by India Today, on Monday, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh ordered a probe into the tweets by the Indian celebrities, supporting the Central govt amidst the farmers’ protest.
“Are these tweets posted under some pressure? Were they forced to do the same? Our intelligence agencies will look into it. How are the tweets of Akshay Kumar and Saina Nehwal the same? This will be looked into. Suniel Shetty’s tweet, wherein a BJP leader is tagged, is before us as well. And, the matter will now be investigated,” Anil Deshmukh said.
As NDTV reported, “Akshay Kumar and Saina Nehwal tweeted the exact same thing and actor Suniel Shetty tagged a BJP leader. While everyone has a right to express themselves, we want the government to probe whether these people were pressurized by the government to tweet this,” Sachin Sawant stated.
