After playing the legendary actress-turned-politician Jayalalithaa in the biopic Thalaivi, Kangana Ranaut has bagged another political drama!
The Queen actress is all set to essay the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi!
Allegedly based on a book (not yet specified which), the movie will cover significant events like the Emergency and Operation Blue Star. Kangana has emphasised that is NOT a biopic though. She will be donning the producer’s hat for this yet-untitled project, which is being written and directed by Sai Kabir.
“Yes, we are working on the project and the script is in the final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi, it is a grand period film, to be precise a political drama that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India,” said Kangana in a statement to Pinkvilla.
“Many prominent actors will be part of this film and of course I am looking forward to playing the most iconic leader that we have had in the history of Indian politics,” Ranaut commented.
Along with this endeavour, Ranaut’s work pipeline includes projects like – Dhaakad, Tejas (where she plays an air force pilot), Aparajita Ayodhya and Manikarnika sequel, titled Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda.
