Yesterday, India celebrated it’s 72nd Republic Day.
Actor-Producer Nikhil Dwivedi took the auspicious day to announce his upcoming production venture.
As reported by Pinkvilla, Nikhil Dwivedi’s next titled ‘1971’ is going to be a mega war film based on the Indo-Pakistan war.
Set in the same period, this war drama will showcase the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war and the liberation of Dacca (the English spelling of the city was officially changed from Dacca to Dhaka).
The ‘Veere Di Wedding’ producer is planning to make it on a gigantic scale.
“India has never seen a real war film. We plan to show the event as is, right from a historian’s textbook to celluloid. My attempt would be to make it as real and authentic as possible, without any jingoism. We want to design it as per international standards,” Nikhil said in a statement.
This film will supposedly also focus on the two important and powerful Indians – Indira Gandhi (then Prime Minister of India) and Sam Maneckshaw, who was the Chief of the Army staff during the war.
“1971 will show both of them worked in complete sync to lead India to one of the most emphatic victories in the post-modern world. It was as much as a political and diplomatic war as much as it was fought by the armed forces,” Nikhil added.
The makers are currently finalizing the cast for the film, after which, this war drama will go on floors.
The official announcement will be made after locking the actors for the main roles.
