Janhvi Kapoor will next be seen in ‘Good Luck Jerry’; it’s Aanand L Rai’s Hindi remake of the Tamil black comedy-crime film ‘Kolamavu Kokila’.
Recently, her first look from the movie in a simple girl-next-door avatar had gone viral, as the filming kickstarted in Patiala.
However, given the currently tense, socio-political climate in Punjab due to the farmers’ protests against the controversial farm laws, it was no surprise when the shooting was suddenly swarmed by protestors.
Apart from Kangana Ranaut and Diljit Dosanjh’s diametrically opposite views on the issue, Bollywood has so far not taken any clear stand on the protests. So when the farmers’ groups stormed in and disrupted Good Luck Jerry’s shoot at Bassi Pathana in Fatehgarh Sahib, they demanded that Janhvi make a public statement about the protests. The crowd left only after assurance from the movie crew about Janhvi’s comment.
Local police officer Balwinder Singh was quoted saying – “They had told the crew and the director that Bollywood actors have neither said anything in support of farmers’ protest nor made any comment. When the film director assured them that Janhvi Kapoor would make a comment on the protest, they went back. The shoot is going on.”
Janhvi Kapoor later took to her Instagram stories to issue a statement, hoping for a beneficial resolution for the farmers-
“Farmers are at the heart of our country. I recognise and value the role that they play in feeding our nation. I hope a resolution is reached soon that benefits the farmers.”
