1) Ranveer Singh WASN’T The 1st Choice!
Ranveer Singh has raced to the top today but not without tough rivalry from star kid Ranbir Kapoor. But turns out it was Ranbir who made way for Ranveer.
Did you know that Aditya Chopra had initially offered Band Baaja Baarat to Ranbir? But he turned it down and Ranbir’s loss was Ranveer’s gain, and the rest is history!
2) What’s In A Name?
The film was initially rumoured to be titled ‘Shaadi Mubarak’. The media reports went viral, so much so, that Yash Raj films had to make an official statement that the name was not that.
3) Date vs Audition?
The story behind Ranveer’s big break in Bollywood is just as filmi as he is! Did you know he almost missed out on his audition?
Ranveer was on a date so he missed SEVEN calls from the film’s casting director Shanoo Sharma! When she sent a message saying ‘Adi Chopra audition’, Ranveer finally realised the urgency of the situation.
4) Good Looks vs Acting Chops!
The Padmaavat actor has often said that he OWES his career to Aditya Chopra. Touted as the ‘Outsider’ at the time, many people were not a fan of Aditya launching Ranveer.
So after being finalised for the lead role in Band Baaja Baaraat, when Ranveer met Aditya Chopra, he was told, “You’re not the most good looking guy. You have to do some good acting if you want people to like you.”
However, Ranveer’s infectious energy and powerful screen presence catapulted him into fame soon enough and now he’s one of the most sought-after, versatile actors in the industry.
5) Lovers’ Point
Ranveer-Anushka onscreen chemistry in Band Baaja Baaraat was off the charts. Or maybe love truly was in the air where they were shooting!
The scene where Ranveer and Anushka are eating a bread pakora under a tree was shot at Lovers’ Point of Hansraj College, where it’s rumoured that Shah Rukh Khan had proposed to his wife Gauri Khan. Aww!
6) Band Baaja Bruise!
While filming an intense scene, Anushka was accidentally ELBOWED in the face by Ranveer. She tried to play it off but the ADs of the couldn’t get enough of the hilarious blooper!
Ranveer had revealed in an interview, “The ADs (assistant directors) of the film started having fun and wanting to watch the scene in slow motion!”
7) Ranveer Ki Dee-Vaani
Did you know Band Baaja Baaraat was remade in Tamil? Yes, that’s right.
Titled ‘Aaha Kalyanam’, it starred Ranveer’s Befikre co-star Vaani Kapoor and Nani in the lead roles.
