Bollywood Comes Out In Support Of Protesting Farmers – Check Out Priyanka, Sonam & Other’s Posts

The fury and compassion was started by Diljit Dosanjh but is now carried on by many Bollywood celebs.

From Sonam Kapoor to Gippy Grewal to Priyanka Chopra, take a look at the celebs’ supportive posts.

#1 Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor is currently in London but her heart’s still in India. “When tillage begins, other arts follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of human civilization.”

Later on, Sonam shared the Instagram story of Anand Ahuja’s post that reads, Some people are supporting the protests, while others are supporting the bill changes… it’s ok to have differing opinions. The reason I shared these posts about the protests today is because I realized that while the idea behind “Free markets”/ letting farmers sell directly is understandable, the farmers; fears of no minimum price guarantee and the potential for private strong-holding and corruption are REAL. Protocols to avoid these outcomes NEED to be established before any changes are implemented.

#2 Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra took to Twitter and wrote, “Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crisis is resolved sooner than later.”

#3 Riteish Deshmukh

Deshmukh tweeted. “If you eat today, thank a farmer. I stand in solidarity with every farmer in our country.”

#4 Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit joined the farmers in their protest at the Singhu border and said, “Hats off to all of you farmers, you have created a new history. This history would be narrated to future generations. Farmers’ issues shouldn’t be diverted by anyone.”

#5 Chitrangda Singh

#6 Hansal Mehta

#7 Vishal Dadlani

Dadlani made sure he informs facts to his followers by tweeting, “Sikh farmers who were served water-cannons and tear-gas, providing drinking water to the very soldiers who attacked them. The word #Sikh comes from the word for “disciple” but they are teachers of strength, courage, and the true meaning of #Satyagraha.”

#8 Anubhav Sinha

#9 Gippy Grewal

Punjabi actor and director Gippy Grewal criticised Bollywood for not standing up for farmers. He wrote, “Dear Bollywood, Every now and then your movies have been shot in Punjab & everytime you have been welcomed with open heart. But today when Punjab needs u the most, u didn’t show up and speak a word. #DISAPPOINTED.”

#10 Taapsee Pannu

Replying to Grippy’s tweet, Taapsee says, “Sir, just because the ones u expected to speak up did not please don’t put us all under the same umbrella. Not that the handful of us need validation regarding standing up but it really pulls down our efforts when disregarded.”
